Bunnahabhain – 11 Year Old Sherry Discovery Gordon & MacPhail (70cl, 43%)

This is an Islay single malt whisky from Bunnahabhain, aged for 11 years in sherry casks and bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Discovery range from Gordon & MacPhail. The sherry casks give the whisky an amber colour and a clear sherry influence. On the nose it brings sherry and orange marmalade, dried fruit such as dates and plums, creamy vanilla toffee and light spice. The palate is soft and creamy, with cinnamon, candied plums and dates, and sometimes nuts. The finish is fairly long, with milk chocolate, lingering dried fruit and nuts, and at times a faint salty, iodine note.
