Bunnahabhain 12 Years is a single malt from the distillery founded in 1881 on the north-eastern side of Islay, known for robust, maritime whiskies with only a very light touch of peat.
This one is lightly peated and fresh, aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
The nose is fresh and aromatic, with dried fruit, vanilla and a hint of smoke. The palate is rich and soft, with sherry, hazelnut and sultanas, leading to a salty aftertaste and a little peat smoke.
