Bunnahabhain – 13 Year Old 2008 Firkin Cask #17754 - Old Malt Cask is a single malt whisky from Bunnahabhain (Islay). Aged 13 years, bottled at 50% ABV, 70cl. Situated on the Isle of Islay, Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 and relied on the sea trade, receiving supplies by boat and sending seafarers back to the mainland with casks full of their special whisky. In the 1930s Bunnahabhain had a short closure before a new road was built to the distillery in 1960, adding another form of transport link to obtain supplies. Due to the increasing demand, a second pair of stills were installed at the distillery in 1963 and by 1979, the classic 12-year-old single malt was introduced worldwide. 1993 saw the last boat being docked as the road to the distillery was now the most suitable route for receiving ingredients and supplies. In the new decade, Burn Stewart merged with Distell which brought more investment into the brand and distillery, Bunnahabhain's portfolio of products was extended and the packaging was further modernised, as well as a Visitor Centre which opened in 2021. From Hunter Laing's Old Malt Cask range, this is one of only 39 bottles from cask #17754. This release was distilled at Bunnahabhain in June 2008 and bottled in August 2021 at 50% ABV.
