This is a 15 year old single malt from Bunnahabhain, the first release in the Westering Home Collection, a three-year series. Turas Math is Scots Gaelic for the beginning of the journey. It is bottled at 55.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The spirit was distilled in 2008 and matured for 15 years in Manzanilla sherry casks from Jerez. It was then married with spirit that spent 10 years in refill casks and finished for 5 years in Amarone wine casks.
The nose has black cherries, plums, blackberries, cloves and roasted nuts. The palate brings cinnamon pastries, treacle toffee, hazelnut, dried figs and soft herbal notes, and the finish has warm spices with a hint of sea spray.
