This Bunnahabhain is a 9 year old Islay single malt distilled in 2012 and bottled at 47.5% by Càrn Mòr. It comes from a single sherry butt and was limited to 1016 bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
It does without the smoky, phenolic notes usually expected of Islay, and only light herbal-salt aromas point to its origin.
The nose is soft and dark-fruited, with dried fruit and jam and slightly salty, herbal notes. The palate is complex, deep and sweet like old dark jam, then slightly salty caramel and a hint of sherry cask wood. The finish is fairly gentle and long, with wood and fruity sherry notes clinging to the palate.
