A 25-year-old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, matured for a quarter of a century in oak casks. It is bottled at 92.6 proof, with natural colour and without chill-filtration.
Bunnahabhain does not rely on heavy peating, and this release leans towards a subtle coastal influence over smoke.
The nose brings orchard fruit, honeyed malt, soft oak spice, vanilla and marzipan with a hint of sea air. Ripe stone fruit, dried apricot, toffee and polished oak lead the palate, with touches of brine and toasted hazelnut. The finish is long and warm, with soft oak tannins and a little salinity.
