Bunnahabhain 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured for 25 years in predominantly sherry casks and bottled at 46.3% in a 75cl bottle.
The distillery was founded in 1881 on Islay's northeast shore. This malt is made from Optic barley, lightly peated to about 3 phenol parts per million, and run through tall pear-shaped copper stills with long swan necks.
The nose offers apple and pear, honeyed malt and marzipan, with roasted nuts and vanilla. The palate is velvety, with dark chocolate and ripe stone fruit, then dried fig, raisin and toffee, and a thread of coastal brine. The finish is very long, with soft oak spice, dark chocolate and dried apricot.
