Bunnahabhain – 40 Years (70cl, 41.9%)

This is a 40 year old Islay single malt from Bunnahabhain, bottled at 41.9%. It began with a chance discovery: the casks in which the whisky had matured for four decades had almost been forgotten until the distillery's blending team found them in the warehouse records and then in the warehouses themselves. The casks came from the wine and spirits merchant J.G. Turney. The whisky is described as tropical fruit, berries and creamy toffee, running into sweet oak, vanilla and roasted nuts.
