Moine is a peated single malt from Bunnahabhain on Islay, a distillery founded in 1881 and better known for unpeated whiskies. The name is Gaelic for peat stack. It is made entirely from peated spirit, matured in a mix of Bourbon and sherry casks, and bottled without chill filtration or added colour.
The nose brings fried banana, burnt sugar and coastal air. On the palate there are green apple, black liquorice, smoked kippers and a touch of fudge. The finish carries iodine, menthol and cooking spices.
