Bunnahabhain – Staoisha 2014/2021 Storm-Kelpie Sea Shepherd (46%)

This is a peated Bunnahabhain Staoisha, distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2021 at 46% as a joint release from Signatory and the German importer Kirsch Whisky. It is linked to the conservation group Sea Shepherd. Members swam across the Gulf of Corryvreckan, between Jura and Scarba, with Staoisha single malt strapped to their legs and to floats, and that whisky became part of this release. The nose is maritime and smoky, with herbs, fresh hay and a light fruit sweetness. On the palate come lively herbal notes, Islay smoke, peat, pepper and salty seaweed. The finish is long, with the smoke and seagrass growing stronger.
