Buton Doppio Kummel (75cl)

This is Doppio Kummel from Buton, a caraway-style liqueur in a 75cl bottle from the 1940s or 1950s. Kummel is a spirit drink flavoured with cumin. The classic recipe uses cumin, anise and dill with pure grain alcohol, and when the cumin concentration is higher the drink is called Double Kummel, which is what doppio means. Kummel is traditionally served on ice, though in some countries it is warmed, and it is also taken with a piece of sugar or a little lime juice.
