Buzzard's Roost Char #1 Rye Whiskey

Buzzard's Roost Char #1 is a rye whiskey from a brand begun in 2019, after Judy Hollis Jones and Jason Brauner met while picking barrels together. The pair worked with a barrel expert at Independent Stave Company on proprietary barrels for secondary maturation. Every barrel uses Char #1, which lets the whiskey take up the oak more readily, and the oak is seasoned for at least 18 months rather than the six months they describe as normal elsewhere. Exclusive toast profiles are used to draw out particular characteristics from the wood. Each batch is blended from just a few barrels, so it differs from one to the next.
