Cairn CRN57° Blended Malt 12 Year Old (70cl, 43%)

This is a 12 year old blended malt from Cairn Distillery, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the distillery's core range. Cairn has not yet released its own single malts. It created a series of blends to echo the flavours of the malt now resting in its casks, and this one has a sweet palate with hints of pepper and candied undertones. The nose brings red apples, cinnamon and cloves, with orange marmalade and roasted walnuts. Raspberry, apple and a touch of pepper follow on the palate, alongside tangy chocolate orange. The finish is fruity with spicy oak.
