Caisteal Chamuis 12 Year Old Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 46%)

Caisteal Chamuis 12 Year Old is a heavily peated blended malt from Mossburn Distillers, the company behind Torabhaig distillery. The brand is named after a castle on the headland of Knock Bay's eastern flank on the Isle of Skye, which can be seen from the distillery. The base is a selection of Island malts aged for twelve years in refill American oak hogsheads, then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. The blend includes Islay and Highland Park whiskies. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. The nose combines mellow peat smoke, dried fruit and a hint of maritime brine. The palate brings dark chocolate, dried fruit and a touch of cinnamon. Smoke fades slowly on the finish, leaving oak spice, sweet sherry and a touch of sea salt.
