Bull Lea is a 10 year old Kentucky straight bourbon from Calumet Farm's Legacy Series, named after the thoroughbred sire at the heart of the farm's racing history. It was distilled and aged in Kentucky in new American oak, then bottled by Three Springs Bottling Company in Bowling Green in 50-barrel batches. It is non-chill filtered, at 50% ABV, in a 750ml bottle.
The mash bill is high in rye: 74% corn, 18% rye and 8% malted barley.
Tasting notes describe a nose of rich oak and tannin that softens to vanilla and caramel, a palate of caramel, toasted honey, charred wood and leather, and a long finish with pronounced oak and soft baking spice.
