This is a 13 year old Caol Ila from Islay, bottled by the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail at 43% ABV. It belongs to the Discovery range, and this edition is the Smoky style.
The smoky, peated character of Islay is at the front, yet the whisky stays balanced, with the smoke not overpowering the other aromas.
The nose combines smoke, vanilla and peat with ripe apricot and banana. On the palate there is pineapple, lemon and malt, lightly sweet, with vanilla and smoke. The finish is lingering, with peat, a little sweetness and a saline touch.
