Caol Ila 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled in 2022 at natural cask strength, 50.6%, exclusively for Fèis Ìle 2022. The distillery manager, Sam Hale, selected it personally, and 3,702 bottles were filled.
The whisky was matured in refill American oak hogsheads and then finished in virgin American oak. Its aroma is fresh green apple, ripe pear and lemon zest with a hint of cinnamon and thyme.
On the palate there is rich vanilla and creamy toffee with gentle spice and bright citrus. The finish brings sweet pear and warm oak, with vanilla and lemon cake lingering.
