This is a Caol Ila distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2023 after 14 years in cask, released by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
Caol Ila is an Islay distillery, and the whisky matured in selected whisky casks. It has a deep golden colour.
On the nose there is peat smoke and a fresh, salty sea note, with ripe citrus, caramel and a little spice. The palate is medium-bodied, with smoke and peat running through vanilla, black pepper and dried fruit. The finish is long and warm, with a smoky echo and a touch of hazelnut.
