Caol Ila – 21 Year Old Rare Malts Selection Distilled 1975 (70cl, 61.3%)

This is a Caol Ila single malt from Islay, bottled in the Rare Malts Selection by Bulloch Lade & Co. It was distilled in 1975, bottled in April 1997 and carries a 21 year age statement. It is a natural cask strength whisky at 61.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle, and a limited edition. The Rare Malts are a series of Diageo cask-strength releases, created to show some of the lesser known whiskies in its portfolio. The series is now discontinued. Caol Ila was long a smaller distillery, and much of its output went into blends. It was marketed seriously as a single malt only in the early noughties.
