This is a 30 year old single cask Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 1989 and bottled at 42.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to The Kinship, a Hunter Laing collection, and is the 2020 release.
The nose combines honeydew melon, Maldon sea salt, smoked ham, bandages and candied almonds, with Islay peat smoke. On the palate there is a gristy, malty note with lime zest, Seville orange, new leather and fine tobacco, along with the ashiness typical of Caol Ila. The finish is refined.
