This is a 23 year old Caperdonich single malt from Speyside, distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2015 by Cadenhead's for its Closed Distilleries series. It was matured in ex-bourbon American oak and bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Only 150 bottles were produced.
Caperdonich was built in 1898 in Rothes as a sister distillery to Glen Grant, was known as Glen Grant No.2, and closed in 2002. It has since been demolished.
The nose is honey, ripe pear, vanilla and coconut. The palate has tropical fruit, wax and creamy oat, then baked pear and gentle spice. The finish is creamy, fruity and waxy.
