Cardhu 12 Years is a Speyside single malt. The distillery, first called Cardow, was founded and legalised by John Cumming in 1824, about five miles west of Craigellachie on the River Spey. Cardhu is bottled as a single malt and is also used in the Johnnie Walker blend. The nose is fruity with heather. The palate starts sweet and soft, then turns drier and smoky. Water or ice brings out salty notes reminiscent of pickled olives.
