Castle & Key – Restoration Kentucky Rye

Restoration Kentucky Rye is a rye whiskey from Castle & Key, based at the Old Taylor Distillery in Millville, Kentucky. Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. built the distillery in 1887, with a real castle, a classical Springhouse and a Sunken Garden. Prohibition closed it in 1920, and over the following century the property changed hands several times and fell into ruin. The Castle & Key team bought the site in 2014 and restored it. Their name draws on the castle and on the keyhole-shaped Springhouse, which is their water source.
