Castle & Key – Restoration Rye Whiskey Batch 3 (75cl, 53%)

Castle & Key Restoration Rye Batch 3 is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from the restored Old Taylor Distillery in Frankfort, bottled at 53% in a 750ml bottle. The mash bill is 63% rye, 17% yellow corn and 20% malted barley. The whisky is aged for a minimum of three years in char 3 and char 4 new oak barrels, and this batch was selected from sixty barrels. The tasting notes describe a nose of stone fruit, toasted almond, pumpernickel, honey, toffee, leather and sweet oak. On the palate come brown sugar, cinnamon, marshmallow, rosemary and black tea, with caramel, rye spice, orange and mint. The finish is malty, nutty and spicy.
