This is a single barrel rye whiskey from Castle & Key, made on the historic distillery grounds in Millville, Kentucky, and sold in a 75cl bottle.
The mashbill is 63% rye, 20% malted barley and 17% yellow corn. As a single barrel bottling, its character is described as varying from one barrel to the next.
The notes run to chocolate, dried fruit and cooked fruit, with a subtle brightness of citrus. There are earthy hints of cooked mash and vegetable, and a faint coal-gas minerality. It is suggested neat or with a few drops of water.
