A 2022 Riesling from Catherine Marshall Wines in South Africa's Elgin Valley, made in the German Rheingau style. Elgin's cool days and cold nights in the growing season suit the grape, and this is a Cape take on the cool-climate German manner. It is 12% abv.
The nose is bright and fresh, with lime, crisp apple, beeswax and wild honey. The palate shows citrus and green apple with spicy undertones, and fresh acidity balanced by fruit sweetness and a mineral texture. The finish is long and intense, like a sorbet.
