Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 Napa Valley Magnum (1.5L, 14.5%)

This is the 2020 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from Caymus Vineyards, in a 1.5L magnum at 14.5% ABV. Caymus is the Wagner family estate, founded in 1972 in Rutherford and still family-owned and operated. The fruit comes from vineyards between Coombsville and Calistoga. Valley-floor sites give lushness and hillside sites give structure, and the grapes are left to hang on the vine unusually long, which brings suppleness, deep colour and mature tannins. Expect cocoa, cassis and vanilla over ripe berries, with boysenberry and acai fruit. The structure is silky but persistent, with soft, velvety tannins, and the finish is long and framed by chocolate.
