This is a 10 year old single malt from Blair Athol, bottled by Chapter 7 Whisky as part of its Monologue range. The spirit was distilled in November 2011 and matured in a bourbon hogshead until October 2022, when 313 bottles were filled at 50.5% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration.
Blair Athol stands in Pitlochry, in the Highlands, and was built in 1798. Its malt has a nutty character, and it is matured almost entirely in bourbon casks.
The nose offers oranges, honey, custard, barley water, black chocolate and espresso. On the palate come orange juice, vanilla, raisins and maize bread, and the finish brings overbaked pear tart, ginger, cinnamon and bay leaves.
