Charles Goodnight Texas Straight Bourbon is a small batch bourbon from Charles Goodnight Distillery, bottled at 115 proof (57.5% ABV) in a 750ml bottle. It is made with a high-rye mash bill.
The name honours the Texas cattleman Charles Goodnight and the Goodnight Loving Trail.
The nose brings toasted caramel, brown sugar, roasted nuts, vanilla bean and a hint of leather. On the palate are rich caramel, toasted pecans, baking spices, rye pepper and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with a warming peppery bite, lingering spice and oak tannins.
