Château Clarke Bordeaux Listrac-Médoc Baron Edmond de Rothschild

A red wine from an old vineyard bought in 1973 and replanted between 1974 and 1978, reaching 54 hectares. The first bottled production was in 1978, and quality has continued to improve since then. Grapes are harvested by hand, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation, ageing for 14 to 18 months in mostly new barriques, and bottle ageing for several months. The colour is an intense ruby red with dark violet reflections. The nose brings red berry fruit, liquorice root and sweet caramel. On the palate it is fresh, round and rightly tannic. It is recommended with game roasts, roast lamb, meat skewers and aged cheeses.
