This is a 21-year-old Bas-Armagnac blend from Château de Lacquy, a family estate for more than three hundred years. The spirit was distilled over a wood fire and aged in French oak. The youngest eaux-de-vie spend 19 years in barrel, then the full blend rests a further two years in 420-litre casks, so the components marry before bottling. It is bottled at 43.5% ABV in a 700ml bottle, with natural colour and no additives.
The nose offers candied orange, prune, leather and black pepper with warm spices. The palate is soft and full, with very ripe fruit, sweet spice, dark chocolate and manuka honey. The finish is long, with dry oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus zest and tobacco.
