Château de Millet 1981 is a single-vintage Bas-Armagnac in a 75cl bottle at 42% vol. The Dèche family grow the fruit, make the wine and distil on the estate outside Eauze in the Gers.
It was aged in 400-litre local white oak barrels and stayed in cask until it was bottled at the château. A small number of casks are set aside each year for single-vintage bottlings, while most of the harvest goes into the estate's VS, VSOP and XO.
The nose is elegant, with liquorice and sweet spice and the polish of long ageing. The palate is soft and full-bodied with great length, ending on caramel. It is best served neat at room temperature.
