This is a single cask Japanese single malt from Chichibu, selected for The Royal Scotsman. It was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 65%, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured in a bourbon cask, number 1500, and 133 bottles were filled. Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto, who revived the legacy of his grandfather's Hanyu distillery.
The nose is vibrant fruit, vanilla and subtle oak spice. The palate is full-bodied and intense, with sweet malt, creamy vanilla and robust spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering fruit and a touch of bourbon cask sweetness.
