Island Rooster is a Kentucky rye whiskey from Chicken Cock Distillery, bottled at 47.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
After its initial maturation, the rye is finished in barrels that previously held Caribbean rum, which brings the sweetness of the rum cask to the spicy character of the grain.
The nose is of oak, spice and a touch of molasses. On the palate, rye flavours sit alongside caramel, vanilla and exotic fruit, leading to a warming finish.
