Chivas Regal 12 Year Old is a blended Scotch whisky built around Strathisla, Scotland's oldest continuously operating distillery. The blend combines Speyside and Highland malts with grain whiskies, and every whisky in it is at least 12 years old. It is bottled at 40%.
Chivas Regal began in 1801 as a grocer's shop in Aberdeen, and James and John Chivas received a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1843.
The nose offers honey, hazelnut, butterscotch and orchard fruit with a gentle floral lift. The palate is creamy, with caramel, vanilla, soft toffee, apple, pear and light spice from the oak. The finish is sweet and gently lingering, with a clean, warm close.
