Royal Salute 21 Year is a blended Scotch whisky from Chivas Regal, in a 75cl bottle at 40% ABV. It is presented in a hand-finished Cornish clay flagon.
The brand was created in 1953 to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and its name refers to the 21-gun salute fired at royal ceremonies. Single malt and grain whiskies are blended, each aged for at least 21 years. The malt comes mainly from Strathisla, the Keith distillery founded in 1786, and the water is drawn from the Broomhill Spring.
The nose is led by ripe pear and apple with honey, vanilla and soft oak. The palate brings toffee and orange marmalade, then dark chocolate and baking spice, and the finish is long and warm with dried fruit and toasted oak.
