This is an old Commandaria from Christodoulopais Brothers, an amber-coloured sweet dessert wine from Cyprus that dates from the 1950s.
It is aged in oak for a minimum of two years. The style goes back to the Crusades, when the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem made it from the vines of the Commanderie of Kolossi Castle. The spelling has since drifted from Comanderia to Commandaria, but the wine is still made today.
