Claxton's Speyside Peated 2013/2024 10 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask (70cl, 50%)

A ten-year-old Speyside blended malt from Claxton's, distilled in 2013 and matured in an Oloroso sherry hogshead before bottling in 2024 at 50%. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It forms part of the tenth release of the Exploration Series. This is a peated malt, with dark fruit and sherry sweetness alongside smoke, pastry, white pepper and vanilla. On the nose there is smoky shortbread, white pepper, sponge and vanilla. The palate opens sweet and malty, then oak gives way to a wave of spicy, herbal peat. The finish stays peaty without strong smoke and fades with sweet, peppery spice and shortbread.
