Climax Moonshine is an unaged, clear corn whiskey made to the family recipe of Tim Smith, a third-generation moonshiner from Climax, Virginia. It is bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The mash is corn-based, with rye and barley malt, and it is distilled at Belmont Farm Distillery in Culpeper, Virginia. It sees no oak, so it stays colourless.
The nose is sweet corn and light grain with a touch of vanilla. The palate is smooth and slightly sweet, with subtle spice and hints of sugar cane. The finish is clean and warming, with lingering grain sweetness and a spicy rye edge.
