Clonakilty – Cask Finish Series Port Cask Blended Irish Whiskey (43.6%)

This is a blended Irish whiskey from Clonakilty Distillery in County Cork, bottled at 43.6% ABV. It is part of the distillery's Cask Finish Series. The blend combines Irish malt whiskey with grain whiskey of about nine years old, both triple distilled. It matures first in ex-bourbon barrels and is then finished in port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley, which add fruit sweetness and deeper colour. The nose is red berries, dried orange peel, vanilla and sweet grain, with faint floral notes and warm spice. The palate is smooth and lightly creamy, with cherry, raisin, baking spice and citrus zest. The finish is medium to long, with red fruit, a little chocolate and lingering spice.
