Clonakilty – Irish Whiskey Single Pot Still Port Pipe Single Cask #9465 (53%)

This is a single cask Clonakilty single pot still Irish whiskey, bottled at 53% ABV under The Gentle Cut label. It matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then spent 11 months finishing in a Calem Port pipe holding 625 litres. The Port finish brings red fruit, dark berries and soft spice, while maturing in Clonakilty's Atlantic Ocean warehouse adds a maritime influence. The cask gave 914 bottles. The nose is ripe and jammy, with orange peel and sweet strawberry. The palate is broad and full, with candied citrus and bittersweet dark chocolate. The finish keeps a lasting warmth of dark chocolate.
