Clonakilty Rum Cask Private Barrel Select is an Irish whiskey from Clonakilty in County Cork, bottled at 57.5% ABV. It is a single-barrel blend with an Irish malt core, first matured in ex-bourbon oak barrels and then finished in rum casks. The colour is deep golden-amber with copper highlights.
The nose combines cinnamon, brown sugar, chocolate, honey and nougat, with pepper and a tropical note from the rum. The palate is silky, with sweet malt, apricot, sultana, vanilla and toasted oak, plus caramel and black pepper. The finish is long, with spiced fruit, gentle oak and a lingering rum note.
