Clonakilty Single Malt is a double-distilled Irish single malt without an age statement, matured in former bourbon casks and bottled at 43.6% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The casks are warehoused in Clonakilty's ocean-side warehouse on Ireland's Atlantic coast, which gives the whiskey a maritime character.
Clonakilty Distillery was founded in 2016 in County Cork by the Scully family, who have farmed the coastal land for nine generations. It distils and matures on site.
The nose is soft oak and sweet honey, with floral plum and berries. The palate has oak spice of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg with vanilla. The finish starts with drying spices, turns to vanilla creaminess and ends on blackcurrants and raspberries.
