Clontarf 1014 Classic Blend is a triple distilled blended Irish whiskey in a 750ml bottle at 40% ABV (80 proof). The name and date refer to the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, when Brian Boru, High King of Ireland, defeated the Viking invaders, and a battle scene is illustrated on the label.
The blend is mostly grain whiskey with a portion of malt, aged in ex-bourbon barrels. It is light golden amber in the glass.
The nose brings toasted oak, toffee and malt, with a light vanilla cream sweetness and a touch of spice. The palate is smooth and light, with strong toffee and butterscotch, vanilla and mellow malt. The finish is light and easy, with barley and honey.
