Clyde May's Conecuh Ridge is an Alabama whiskey in a 750ml bottle, made in the spirit of Clyde May's Special Reserve. May was a veteran who returned to Alabama after the Second World War and made whiskey in small batches.
This one is a marriage of 5 and 6 year old bourbon from Heaven Hill, aged in new caramel-charred white oak barrels. The mash bill is corn, rye and malted barley.
The nose is rich with caramel, dried orchard fruits, toffee, nutmeg and candied orange peel. The palate brings dried fruit, sage and black pepper, and the finish is silky with anise and toasted oak.
