Clyde May's Special Reserve 6 Year Old is a straight bourbon aged for six years in charred American oak barrels and bottled non-chill-filtered at 55% ABV. It is finished in the brand's Alabama style, with a slight hint of apple.
The brand is named after Clyde May, an Alabama moonshiner, and this was its first line extension, launched in autumn 2015. It was developed with whiskey veteran Ron Call and distilled in Indiana.
The nose offers caramelised orchard and citrus fruits with vanilla, and the palate is rich with butterscotch, apple pie and toasted oak. The finish is long, with clove and wood spice.
