Clyde May's Straight Bourbon is a straight bourbon whiskey sourced from an Indiana distillery, bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 75cl bottle without chill filtration.
The brand is rooted in Alabama moonshine and is known for adding dried apples to its Alabama Style whiskey, but this bourbon contains no apple. It uses a mashbill of 78% corn, 12% rye and 10% malted barley, and ages in heavily charred new American oak barrels.
The nose is caramel corn and marshmallow with vanilla and dried cherries. The palate moves from caramel and vanilla to herbal rye spice, green peppercorn and light citrus. The medium finish dries to peanut brittle, anise and black pepper.
