This is a 30 year old single cask Clynelish from the Highlands, distilled in 1990 and bottled at cask strength, 47.5% abv, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured for its full term in a first-fill Oloroso sherry cask. Only 325 bottles were released, in 2021, as Secret Series No. 1.
The nose is floral with strong brine, which some compare to dark chocolate or mahogany. The palate is muscular and waxy, with biscuit, candied ginger, prunes and a sea-borne tang. The long finish is cool, with menthol and liquorice.
