Colonel E.H. Taylor Cured Oak is a 10 year old Bottled-in-Bond bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, at 100 proof (50%). It first appeared as a one-off release in 2015 and returned in May 2026, honouring Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr.
The barrels were made from white oak staves air-dried outdoors for 13 months, against the six months usual at the distillery. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley chose the 10 year age to balance the influence of the extra-seasoned wood with the bourbon's natural sweetness.
The nose is dried fruit, sweet vanilla and toffee. The palate brings tobacco, dark dried fruits and vanilla with seasoned oak beneath, and the finish is long, dry and layered.
