Compagnie des Indes Barbagaya Blend of Barbados and Guyana (43%)

Barbagaya is an aged small-batch rum blend from Compagnie des Indes, combining one cask of Barbados rum with one of Guyanese rum. Both casks were filled in April 2007 and aged partly in a tropical climate and partly (40%) in a continental one, before being married and bottled at 43% without chill filtering. The colour is golden. The nose opens with gentle oak and vanilla, then darker notes of brown sugar, a little icing sugar and a touch of candied orange. On the palate come coconut flakes, toasted oak and vanilla sugar, settling soft and smooth with a natural sweetness. It can be taken neat or used in cocktails such as a Rum Old Fashioned.
